In 2017 the London Philharmonic Orchestra collaborated with the Royal Opera House and Curve to produce the world-premiere of Ravi Shankar’s only opera, Sukanya. Distinct from many co-production arrangements, this was a truly collaborative effort with shared financial risk, and shared creative decision-making at every stage of the process.

The production featured an ensemble of five classical Indian musicians performing alongside members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and dancers from the Aakash Odedra Company, with set, costume and video projection design by 59 Productions.
